I'll add in my 2 cents worth on the ID-800H. How about a remote cable that doesn't need to be secured with a screw?
I like to remove mine from my car (I've found a means to use Yaesu slide-in mounts for this), re-attach the control head and then use it while indoors with a portable antenna and power supply. Now I also have to carry a small phillips screwdriver in the console just to remove/replace the cable to control head.
