You 'guys' have been wonderful and i even stayed on the list for a year
after I got a Ti, since I had sold my 2400 locally and wanted to help the
buyer (no service in Canada, of course) and list members.
But now I need to unsubscribe and I've lost the instructions so would

I've been a longtime member and even held on for 6 months after I sold my
2400 (new Ti - a tempter dressed in titanium) but now i want to thank all of
you who helped and entertained me and I fear i must

Can anyone help me troubleshoot the synch between a PCI Mac and my 2100 using NCU 1
and running Claris Organiser 2.0. I have done this many times before but now it is
stuck. The connection is fine, because it will back up the names and notes just

I have the 2400 docks and fixed both of them by edging the connector forward ( put a
little bit of plasctic or cardboard behind it inside the dock). The 2400 docks are
screwed shut from the bottom and open easily when the screws are removed.

Or at least a reinstall of the energy saver panel and the sys proper (not panels
etc.). Software fixes first, always. They cost so much less. As my 2400 just
recovered from a hd blowout I am also stuck by the point that awaking from sleep
requires the hd to spin up. Is yrs spinning up?

DT&T were very good at diagnosing my green light and popping in the new hard drive.
They were also trying to fix the PCMICA card cage (the cards read but would not
eject) and, although they claimed they replaced the cage it still did not work when I
got it back. Over the phone, however, we split t

The hd on my 2400 broke at Xmas and DT&T put in a 6 gig replacement. I
have partitioned its HFS+ initialisation into:
1 - 2.0 gig - where everything is now (and 'boot disk') except for
2 - 1.64 gig
3 - 1.95 gig. - a backup of the sys folder
I usually copy files via SCSI (and file synch c
With the 2400 and the 1400 connected by a SCSI cable you MAY be able to boot by
starting the 2400 first (should produce the b&w screen with 2 in a diamond moving
across it) and then the 1400, which would make the 1400 the master. This would
definitely work if the 1400 was a desktop machine.

I think a PCI card giving SCSI ports to yr G4 would be about $35 and that would
eliminate such complicated thinking as RAM disks.Your 2400 would simply behave as a
dumb disk again.

When he should be building a new sub-notebook (believe me, with the new
one at 5.3 lbs no new sub makes business sense, nor does a Newton go
against Palm at this point) Steve is up to this .

I need to run my 2400 as a hd connected to a desktop a lot.
Is there any way of dimming (or sleeping) the screen that is
only showing the floating black diamond? The screen does not
switch off when you shut the lid.

And while praises are being sung, let me praise DT&T for doing a repair on a "green
light" 2400 (turned out to be the hd). MCE politely told me they no longer repair
2400's (they still do cardbus mods and speed upgrades) and sent me to DT&T. We are
very lucky to have this support for machines that
Has anyone hand-delivered anything to MCE? I'm going to LA
next week (from Toronto) and I want to get a 2400 repaired
while down there (green light of death, normal fixes not

The standard cures don't seem to be working (rested it three
days, did things with the power reset till my fingers nearly
fell off). The power reset is working like an on-off switch
for the green light: one short push turns it on, a second
turns it off. Turning off is accompanied by a small static
I have, for the first time ever on my 2400, the green light of death problem with
the power manager. I thought i had saved instructions to fix it when they were
given on this conference, but i can't find them on my desktop hd. Could someone
please review the repair procedures?
thanks,
