Thanks to both of you. I just placed an order from Madsonline.

I wondered if it could be some kind of a fuse issue. I suspect it was
related to fraying/shorting in my adapter. Not being handy with a soldering
iron (I certainly don't have "good soldering skills", I'll probably send it
to MCE. I'll hold off sending until after my new Titanium PowerBook arrives
<gloating>. Ordered BTO from the Apple Store on January 9th -- still not
here :-( .

Since I'm sending it off anyway, I'm thinking about having a larger hard
drive put in the 2400. I still have the original 1.3 GB drive and would like
something much larger. What drives do people recommend for a 2400? I'd like
the largest one available, assuming the price isn't outrageous. Does MCE
sell them or are they exclusively a repair shop? Should I buy one somewhere
else and pack it in the box with the PowerBook and send it all to MCE? I
assume they will install drives as well? What can be done with the old
drive? Is there some kind of external enclosure available, or is is there
someone out there on the list who needs a 1.3 GB drive?

Also, do I understand that MCE can do something to allow me to use Firewire
on a 2400? I've not followed those threads closely but I seem to recall it
has something to do with Cardbus enabling. I'd like to max this thing out if
I can as I'll be giving it to my high school age son and I want him to be
able to use it for a couple of years. Advice? What else do I need to do to
use Firewire?
