How about TechTool? No one has mentioned it and it seems to be a solid
alternative to Norton. Works well for me.

What about Apple's "Disk First Aid"
It's always worked well for me when I didn't
have the other utilities handy.

You didn't read all of the posts did you! Yes I did mention it! If you have the
money there is nothing wrong with having all three! Which I do use all three
programs, depending on my needs. Any one of the programs may find and or fix a problem
the others do not find or cannot fix.
