there's no HD cable, there's an IDE connector soldered to the logic board.
you can wait for new improved replacement battery for 2400c, it runs 1/3
longer than Apple original when price is around 1/2.

I'd suggest you put the HD into a dual usb/firwire enclosure.
I did that with my Tibook's internal drive. Very easy.
You have some extra tiny portable storage for the iBook (or other)
fill it with pics and mp3s

Any particular brands / models recommended? Almost picked up a USB v1/2
enclosure at Circuit City,
I hear ADS Pyro getting good marks
mine is a Powerboy
it is "ok" .. cheap and small.
another company "abc ? abs"
uses the same inclosure for a automatic backup system ... so that
seems a good recommendation.
