this is maddening! i tried what you suggested, but i'm still getting the hang. Apple support docs say it's a problem with the implementation of OT in OS 8.6. apparently it's fixed in 9.0 and above. i'm wondering if i can install OT from 9.04 or 9.1 but keep 8.6. installing all of the OS is a
