As Roger wrote, if you use Norton Utilities to repair a disk, you
need to keep running it again until it finds no more errors. Many
times the first error found covers another error behind

something like Hard Disk Toolkit to format and password protect at
least the first partition (if only two) then if you want to startup
with the 2nd, just hit return instead of entering the password. You
have to mount the 1st
