I've always had flaky performance with those two types of devices. Try a
Nokia phone with IR (NOT a 51xx/61xx) and see how you go.

in any IrDa-Way. My Palm V shows that it is receiving a signal, but no

You can use the Infrared control panel to switch to IrDA on the 2400.
IrTalk is discontinued (and sucks!)
