So if anyone is keeping track :-)
  My 2400 is now able to sleep.
I had to go back to OS 8.6 (not a problem and maybe a blessing).
8.6 allows Shutting of the display rather than only dimming it from 
advanced energy saver control panel settings


I did SEVERAL Pram zaps.

I did not take at first.
then I got ONE successfull sleep and wake so I kept at it.
It sleeps and wakes without any peripherals on the scsi bus.

Sleeps on AC or Battery.

so I am happy with that.
