use `xsetroot -name status` as dwm's status bar contents are now derived from the name attribute of the root window. It's a good thing, as you no longer need to play the pipe game. On Wed, Apr 29, 2009 at 21:16, Don Harper ducku...@gmail.com wrote: Hi,  I am coming back to dwm after being away

I use a combination of xss and xkeygrab to lock my screen but allow the UI to update in the background so I can see incoming emails and chats. I imagine you could use a combination of a screencap and a static image display screen saver. On Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 19:53, Antony Jepson

[dwm] minimal communication

I'm slowly migrating from irssi to sic for IRC conversations, setting up up a hotkey in dwm to popup dmenu, which feeds into sic. sic will be displayed in either the root window or a terminal. I'm still figuring out the IPC for this setup to work sanely. My question however, is anyone familiar

The challenge is nice. However the major reason I love applications that follow the suckless philosophy is the tendency to avoid large or non-ubiquitous libraries. The setup at work is one involving a wide variety of platforms and configurations, so having a complete setup that works

I've been using xss at work for the last 6 months and have had no problems I didn't create myself. I've been trying to find something that will grab keyboard and mouse input, so I can see the desktop and any alerts that may pop up, and have been using xss+xkeygrab. Good stuff, especially when your

The window is moved to the floating layer, not the layout switched to floating. Sounds like you're leaving the window in the floating layer, the layer where layout has no effect. Put the window back in the tiled layer with MODKEY+Shift+space by default. On Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 14:09, Scytrin dai
