Hi Larry,
Not knowing anything else about the guy I would cut him some slack and send
the card with a 7.0 MHZ frequency. At least he is trying CW which is more
than can be said for a lot of folks out there. He even QSLed which is
another sign that his heart is in the right place. If he is nervo

John,
I agree. Only problem is some of our "brethren" get rather greedy when DX
is out there and have unrealistic expectations of operations. To use your
own words we must remember that the goal of the activity is to "provide
relaxation for service men and women far from home." That translates
Based on IRC's I have received (several hundred), the post offices use a
standard cancellation stamp showing their post office and date. For both
old and new IRC's, they are stamped on the left side of the coupon. The new
coupon does not have a place to stamp the price of the IRC. The old coupon

Bruce,
I may be missing something, but using your logic, a "new guy" could NEVER
get to the top of the all time list as there are entities he couldn't
possibly work as these entities are on the deleted list. The current method
levels the playing field as available entities are available to all.
I wonder if the program handles this? An old call (sometimes not so old) is
reissued and cards before December 2002 go to the old K5%$# and cards after
December 2002 go to the new K5%$#.
I'm a card sorter for the 5 buro and I have instances of this in my files.

Be careful what you wish for. If you're an active ham the last thing you
would want is another active ham next door.

Zack,
Not sure where you are in 9 land. I worked AH3D on 30 meters from
mid-Michigan and didn't notice what you outlined. QSO time was 0223Z. MUF
can be funny on 30 meters as the antennas on both ends have a better than
even chance of not being optimized. I load an 80 meter 1/4 wave through a

I have heard of them used in a horizontal plane. Knowing the
characteristics of the slinky you would have to have some method of keeping
the rings extended in the vertical position . . . gravity would cause the
links to collapse to the bottom.

There are several issues working here. If the operation is legal in the
country of operation then they have every right to operate. But to
knowingly sneak onto an island (Desecheo) and intentionally "hide" their
operation in the interior in order not to get caught causes real problems
