9N7JO, Stig (and my Thailand) noise comes from a combination of power lines
(radiated and conducted), lighting instruments, motors, and who knows what
else. It is a complicated and ever changing noise environment that mostly
defies noise reduction circuits that are currently available to ordinary
hams. It would likely take a significant computer-driven noise management
system-- maybe the kind used by military-- to get a handle on this noise
situation.
My IC-775DSP analog noise blanker kills my horrid noise from 5 over 9 down
to S-7... a remarkable accomplishment and with vy little degration in the
voice sigs. Its DSP adds a little control but advancing that beyond
threshold injects degration of the voice. This 775 has jaw-dropping analog
noise blanking, but still I have S-7. If anyone knows of a limiter/blanker
better than that that is affordable, please advise. Thanks and 73
