Activity will be on 160-10 meter CW, SSB and digital modes, possibly QRV

13/05/2005:  A group of German Scouts will be active May 13-16th as
OZ1RDP from a camp site on Roemoe Island (IOTA EU-125, DIA NS-001). Look

14/05/2005:  DE0MST (Fredy), DF9MV (Sven), DL5MFL (Mathias), 9A3KB
(Boro), 9A2WJ (Daki) and 9A6AA (Emir) will be QRV May 14-21st from the
island of Lastovo (IOTA EU-016, IOCA CI-051, MIA MC-196) and the
lighthouse of Struga (TWLH 9A-065, ARLHS CRO-148, WLOTA L-0815, ADLL
E3544). They will use the special call 9A0CI and will be active on all

14/05/2005:  Mike, GM4SUC reports that commencing 14th May Steve
EA5/G0SGB/p will be QRV daily from 10:00 UTC on 14.264 MHz with any
other band on request. Over 26 Lighthouses to choose from including IOTA
EU-006, EU-007 and EU-017. QSL cards direct only as they will be

14/05/2005:  Claude, F6AEW, will be active the morning of May 14th as
F6AEW/p from the Castle of Patis (DFCF reference 53-018), Departement de

14/05/2005:  Seb, F8DQZ, will be active May 14th, in the morning, as

14/05/2005:  Four members of the Radio Club Tivadar Puskas (HA5KHC) -

14/05/2005:  Look for Alex, RV3DPM/3/m, to be active May 14-15th from
the following references for the Russian Districts Award: the Spas -
Demensky Area (RDA KG-24), the Barjatinsky Area (RDA KG-08) and the
boudary of Kirov City (KG04) and Kirovsky Area (RDA KG-15), Kaluzhskaya
oblast (KG). Activity will be on 40 and 20 meter, SSB only, with an

Grand Ledge, Michigan. Activity will be on 80-10 meter SSB from 14:00

15/05/2005:  Jakob, OZ7AEI, will be QRV May 15th as DL/OZ7AEI/p from the
Lighthouse Holnis II (ARLHS FED-111). Activity will begin on 20 meter

15/05/2005:  Starting May 15th, and ending June 20th, Patrick, F5MQW
will tour by motor-home, Northern Europe through, Belgium, the
Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. Patrick will use either his
xx/HC (ON/F5MQW, PA/F5MQW and so on) or xx/F8UFT/p (DL/F8UFT/P,
SM5/F8UFT/p and so on..). F8UFT is the callsign of the French EUCW
Society,"The Union Francaise des Telegraphistes". The main radio
activity goal consists of being active from several IOTAs in Germany,
Danemark and Sweden. The following stops are scheduled: DL/F8UFT/P from
Fehmarn island (IOTA EU-128); SM5/F8UFT/P from Grâsö island (IOTA
EU-084); SM5/F8UFT/P from Norr Finno island (NOT IOTA); SM7/F8UFT/P from
Öland island (IOTA EU-037); and SM7/F8UFT/P from Sturkö island or Ãspo
island or Hasslö island (IOTA EU-138). The IOTA stops in Denmark will be
according to the ferries time tables, and will be announced later; look
at the clusters. Patrick will be active on HF bands (except lower bands

15/05/2005:  Yukon John, KL7JR, reports that he will be active from the
roving Icemobile (see bio on QRZ.com for K7ICE) on Vale Island (VE8,
CIsA NW-046, NOT IOTA), Latham Island (VE8, CIsA NW-032, NOT IOTA),
Dickson Island (VY1, CIsA YT-009, NOT IOTA), Scully Island (VY1, CIsA
YT-008, NOT IOTA) and maybe two new ones starting around May 15th
through late June. His activity will be on SSB and PSK-31. Look for
KL7JR and K7ICE to concentrate on 17, 20, 40 and 75 meters. Watch

16/05/2005:  Helmut, DL7VOX, will be active May 16-25th as DL7VOX/p from
Usedom Island (IOTA EU-129, GIA O-013). Look for him on 80-10 meters,

16/05/2005:  Francois, F5JNE/p will be QRV May 16-24th from Belle Ile en
mer, (IOTA EU-048, DIFM AT-015). During his stay he has also scheduled
to be active, on May 17th and May 19th, Poulains Island (IOTA EU-048,
DIFM AT-089) and Pointe des Poulains Lighthouse (TWLH F-058, DPLF
PB-066, ARLHS FRA-059, WLOTA L-0872). Main activity on 40, 20 meter CW

16/05/2005:  Special call UE6LLL will be active May 16-24th from Donetsk

17/05/2005:  Juan, EA8CAC, will be QRV May 17-23rd as EA8CAC/p from El
Hierro Island (IOTA AF-004, DIE S-015). He plans to activate several
lighthouses as follows: Punta Orchilla (FEA D-2836, ARLHS CAI-066), De
La Restinga (FEA D-2837, ARLHS CAI-009), Punta Salmor (FEA D-2840, ARLHS
CAI-052), Punta Dehesa (FEA D-2841, ARLHS CAI-031), Punta Caleta (FEA
D-2839, ARLHS CAI-028) and Punta Bonanza (FEA D-2837.5, ARLHS CAI-026).

Joerg DL2DSL/p to be active May 20-27th from Usedom Island (IOTA EU-129,
GIA O-13, WW Loc. JO64WC). Activity will be on 160-10 meter CW and SSB.

20/05/2005:  Operators Anders SM3XGV, Hans SM3TLG, Staffan SM3JGG,
Classe SM3GSK SM3S, Tord SM3EVR, Gunnar SM3DVN and Jorgen SM3CXS will be
QRV May 20-22nd as SG3ZZR from Grimskar Island (IOTA EU-176). Activity
will be on 80-10 meter CW and SSB. QSL via SM3CXS. All QSOs will be
confirmed automatically via the bureau. If you prefer direct QSLing be
sure to include sufficient return postage 1 IRC is ok, but not 1 USD, as
mail outside of Sweden is about 1.45 USD (10 sm kronor). The team will

20/05/2005:  Nick, UT4UT, plans to be active May 20-22nd as XY4U from
Thebyu (aka Sandy) Island (IOTA AS-167). Activity will be on, or near,
the CW and SSB IOTA frequencies, with CW being his main mode. The
operation will begin around 10:00 UTC May 20th and end around 09:00 UTC

LOOKING AHEAD -

08/07/2005:  Frosty, K5LBU, reports that it is a go for the Swaziland
expedition for July 8-18th. Wayne Rogers, W5KDJ will be 3DA0DKJ, Frosty
K5LBU will be 3DA0CF and Daniel ZS6JR will be 3DA0JR. They will be on
all the bands that are open from 160 meters to 6 meters and will try
RTTY and PSK also. Their equipment will consist of a A4S with 40 meter
kit at about 50 feet with a 2 el 12-17 meter beam above that, a 6 el m2
6 meter beam up at 50 feet, along with a very good vertical for
160-80-40 and some beverages for receiving. They will be on for the IARU
contest (July 9-10th) and Frosty is still hoping to get 3DA5HQ for this

17/07/2005:  Claude, HB9CRX, will be active July 17-31st as SV9/F8UFT/p
from Kissamos, Candie [Crete] (IOTA EU-015). Look for him on 40-10 meter

30/07/2005:  Martin G3ZAY, Dominic M0BLF, Tim M0TDG and Tom M0TJH will
be active July 30-31st from the Westman Islands (TF7, IOTA EU-071)
during the RSGB IOTA contest. No call sign was given. Further

20/08/2005:  Wally VK6YS, Dan VK8AN and Nigel VK6KHD will be active
August 20-23rd as VK6DHI from Dirk Hartog Island (IOTA OC-206). Activity

SPECIAL EVENTS -

17/05/2005:  A team of 16 radio amateurs will activate special event
callsign AX3ITU to mark the 140th birthday of the International
Telecommunications Union. Amateur Radio Victoria aims to have the have
AX3ITU on air virtually the entire 24 hours UTC on Tuesday 17th of May.
It will be available on CW, Phone, PSK31 and an amateur satellite on the
day. Three of the team, VK3QI, VK3ANJ and VK3YR, will concentrate on CW
on the 40, 30 and 20 metre bands. Phone operation will be on the 80, 40,
20 and 2-metre bands, while PSK31 is to target 80 and 40 metres. A
commemorative QSL card will be available for contacts. QSL information

28/05/2005:  The North Shore Amateur Radio Club and the South Pickering
Amateur Radio Club in conjunction with the Camp X Historical Society
extend an invitation to all Radio Amateurs to join them in celebrating
the contribution that Camp X made to the Allied victory in Europe.
Amateur Radio operators will be telling the story of Camp X to the world
by way of radio from Camp X, Intrepid Park, Whitby, ON on Saturday, May
28 from 14:00 to 21:00 UTC and Sunday, May 29 from 14:00 to 19:00 UTC.
This event will include displays of vintage World War II radio equipment
as well as Militaria displays and Camp X artifacts. The special event
station will once again be transmitting from the original site of Camp X
on the Oshawa-Whitby border using the call sign of VE3SCX. Tune up your
rigs and get ready to make another exciting contact with this historical
site.

28/05/2005:  The Penticton BC amateur radio club will be operating a
special event station from the Kettle Valley Railroad. They will be
signing VE7KVL. Operation will be on 20 meters around 14.190 plus or
minus. They will also be using IRLP. Dates: May 28th and 29th. Starting
about 16:00 UTC each day. The operation will be while the train is
traveling on a short piece of original track left over from the Kettle

04/06/2005:  Special event station VE3MIS will be celebrating the 32nd
Streetsville Founders Bread & Honey Festival June 4-5th. Look for them
on 7.227, 14.240, 21.315 and 28.480 MHz (+/- QRM), between 1400 - 2000
UTC both days. A certificate will be awarded to those who QSL. QSL via

10/06/2005:  Ken Whalen (VO1ST) of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, on behalf
of the Admiralty House Museum and Archives, has been granted Special
Event Callsigns to commemorate Alcock and Brown's Transatlantic flight.
The call sign will be VO1VIMY and will be active between June 10th and

15/06/2005:  Pete, VE3IKV, will use the special event call sign VD2X to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mina Hubbard's incredible trek
across Labrador in 1905. The call sign will be operational between June
15th and July 15th, 2005. Pete plans a 6 meter Zone 2 DXpedition to VO2
Labrador which will take place around the beginning of July 2005, using
the special call sign VD2X. The purpose of the trip is to investigate
high latitude Sporadic-E propagation on the North American side as it is
affected by proximity to the North Geomagnetic Pole. Special attention
will be paid to multihop transatlantic paths, as well as double hop to
central and western USA/Canada. Equipment so far is my FT-650 and a
5-element K6STI wide spaced portable yagi (10dBd). Pete will be
monitoring SSB/CW during the drive, and if the band opens up, switch

20/06/2005:  To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Army Wireless
Reserve Amateur Radio Society, special event station GB5AWR will be
active June 20-27th. The station will be operated on all modes by G0SWY.
