I was unaware of this activity and would agree with W3UR that operations
such as this "blurr" the distinction between legal Amateur radio activity
and illegal spectrum activity. Virus is perhaps not a strong enough word. It

all, they include greenstamps with their QSL requests, too. I'm sure those
contacts help defray the costs of of operating as much as amateur contacts

I sent an email to Bill Moore asking what the DXAC's position was
on the validity of DXpeditions that operate freeband in light of
DXCC rule 12c. I haven't received a response yet. My belief is that
their QSLs should be disqualified and the ham operators on the

Again I reiterate, the best place to go for QSL information is the
QSL reflector, now numbering over 2500 with a virtual copy of all the
DXR subscribers on it. I suggest that inquires go there 1st and
