I updated to Unity 7.2.4 (using the ppa described above) and still have

Public bug reported:
Hello everybody,
1) My release of Ubuntu :
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
Release:14.04
2) The version of package I'm using : update-manager 1:0.196.12
3) What you expected to happen ? I expect to install all available
upgrades when I
Sorry but my workaround was incomplete - i.e. to clean up the login screen (and
clean up the cached passwords) I use the following commands:
sudo rm /var/lib/sss/db/*
sudo rm /var/lib/sss/mc/*
sudo rm -rf /var/lib/lightdm/.cache
sudo rm -rf /var/cache/lightdm
sudo rm -rf /var/log/wtmp
And reboot
Experiencing same problem in Precise.
Temporary fix by:sudo mv /usr/lib/unity/unity-panel-service ~
Then:ps -u | grep unity to check service is stopped.
My conclusion is: if there weren't bugs, we wouldn't need exterminators!
Cheers!

Even if the reveal sensitivity is high, the launcher does not appear

I also got bitten by this bug after updating from ubuntu gnome 14.04 to
14.10. I tried switching to the systemd init system but this did not
work either so I reverted to upstart. However using the last kernel from
14.04 works and the system becomes usable again. I am only mentioning it
because it
