Today I updated the system to Ubuntu 14.04.02.
The BUG # 1347638 is not solved.
Still it is possible to assign it (ThinkVantage) to a shortcut in the
keyboard settings dialog, where it
shows up as Launch1, but it does not work - they shortcut is not activated by
hitting that key.

Unity can't show the global menu item for some gnome apps.
For example, the 'terminal' menu for gnome-terminal, or the 'calculator'
menu for gnome-calculator cannot be opened. Other menus can be
displayed (file, edit,...)
This is a recent regression I think.
