Thanks for your comment, Sebastien!
Let me say a few words about the reason for involving the
user_get_property() function in the first place.
In addition to generating lists of available options, the GUIs for
setting language and regional formats asks accountsservice about the
current value.

I'm also affected by this issue in Trusty.
I think that, for today, the indicator should list the events that END after
the current time, instead of the ones that START after it.

Also reproduced on 15.04, seems to be an overall problem with our
approach in Qt 5. I'll try to find some free cycles to take a closer
look into this ASAP.

Lars said he would take a look at this soon - looks to me (but I don't
know the most about this stuff) like totem's code is failing to populate
the traditional menubar but does for the gear menu - so there's a bug in
totem too in addition to any indicator-appmenu bug.

Here's a simple patch for Trusty. It may also work in newer releases.
I've made a very short test but it seemed to work. Still, more testing is
advisable!
The patch makes the list of upcoming events display, for today, the events that
END before the current time, instead of the ones that START
It seems to be related to proprietary Nvidia drivers: I 'solved' the
issue by removing Nvidia 304, and going back to the default nouveau

Public bug reported:
I'm upstream developer of fityk and I've got several reports from Ubuntu 14.04
users that the program crashes when using Unity. The workaround is to set
UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0.
To reproduce:
apt-get install fityk
fityk
and zoom in using a mouse.
Valgrind shows this:

@Gunnar, I'm unsure to understand enough about the issue to comment on
the solution. Having some config automatically writen for users seems
suboptimal, especially when the config is identic to the system default.
Can't we just bail out from doing work in those cases?
