Resolved! I've installed unity-scope-github which silently removed
unity-scope-home (because I've installed it via Software Center). After
reinstalling unity-scople-home (and uninstalling unity-scope-github)
everything is back in the Launcher!

Since an update on Sunday, 22nd my Unity launcher is empty. All the
categories: Home, Apps, Files, ... except for the Social lens/scope.
I tried removing the caches under ~/.cache, reset zeitgeist, etc. There
is nothing I can do about it. When I switch to a guest session,
