'Man pages' do not immediately show the total number of lines or your
scrolling percentage. This can be frustrating as I've found myself
scrolling through hundreds of lines, only to find out there are
thousands in total.

you get a little cross for 'silent mode' next to the indicator.
For the volume OSD, the visual language is different, where as you take

Even if the OTA goes live, I'm not sure how you might get it on a phone
if you can't interact with it.

I just tried the same kind of proto handset rsalveti mentioned side by
side with a production Ubuntu edition device. Both devices appeared to
still show a (dim) backlight at the lowest setting the UI allowed.
I could see that the screen backlight went all the way off when the
device was turned off
This happened to me after running 'unity --replace' to workaround
another bug(#1311316). It has happened to me several times before. I
attached the full console output here is an excerpt:

So further experimentation revealed that we should be keeping the DBUS
activation environment up to date with all the initctl set-env calls.
Thus initctl set-env calls should call into
org.freedesktop.DBus.UpdateActivationEnvironment in the user session
upstart case.

upstart in user session manages environmental variables and most things
have them, however Alt-f2 started proccesses lack them.
to test
Super Key -> "xterm" -> Enter -> env | grep SSH
vs
Alt+F2 -> "xterm" -> Enter -> env | grep SSH
via Super Key -> the environment is corr
This happened after installing Ubuntu 15.04 Alpha from a new download on
28 feb 2015, also install is missing wi-fi drivers for Dell Vostro 1510
but was able to install following WiFiDocs_Driver_bcm43xx-Community Help
Wiki.html, they are probably not related.
