option could be provided via the boot options available after pressing
the power+VolUp buttons (I'm assuming here that the secondary menu made
available when pressing VolUp during the recovery boot is not suitable,
as it looked

wipe cache partition option mean (as opposed to the factory reset,
which is obvious)?

@John thanks again for clarification. In any case I did a factory reset
via the power+VolUp buttons. All back and working now. Perhaps a
worthwhile feature request for the future, to have a reset option that
resets device settings, without wiping data? :-)

I have this problem in Xubuntu 14.10 sometimes when dragging files in
Thunar. I found an interesting work-around that works for me. When
Parole media player is open with a video file (can be paused) if I drag
the corrupted cursor into the video area it fixes the cursor. The
resolution change fix

Found this fix to regain use of Menu Bar Hot Keys (Mnemonics):
Remove indicator-appmenu via Synaptic or
via Terminal: sudo apt-get remove indicator-appmenu.
Log out/in.
Not certain yet if this creates any other limitations or causes any
buggy behavior, but it does allow
KDE PowerDevil now checks for Upstart if the systemd version check
fails. The version API implementation is no longer needed. The call to
the sleep scripts still needs to happen.
