com.canonical.unity.unity-greeter-draw-user-backgrounds is the correct
option. If it does not work please reopen the bug.

Ooops: I found this for per user setting: dconf editor
-com.canonical.unity.unity-greeter-draw-user-backgrounds : untick , done :)
Now I just have to check this for system wide setting... maybe there :

still false... maybe my own account setting was reset on upgrade?
