No, I am not SAVING it onto the USB stick. I COPY the .dxl file to the USB stick BUT the DX4WIN/SAVE folder still holds the .dxl file and if I make any changes to the log the changes go to the .dxl in the /SAVE folder. Had I gone to the SAVE AS window and selected the USB stick in the drop down SAVE IN small window then yes, I would be changing where the next log changes would go. But in my scenario the .dxl file is only copied to the USB stick. I know what you mean because in the past when working with LOTW I had a separate folder on my desktop where I saved my LOTW export.adi, then imported it to ARRL/LOTW, then when I got my report back after LOTW processed my import I saved it in the LOTW folder. I would select the LOTW folder using the drop down window in the SAVE AS window. But as you stated I had to be sure to change it back to the DX4WIN/SAVE folder. Later I decided there was no need for me to save every export .adi file after I had imported it to the ARRL LOTW website. But the way I do my back up save to a USB drive is different. Hope that explanation makes sense. 73 and thanks for a great logging program. I am an original user having first rcvd the program on an old 7 inch floppy disc. DX4WIN will remember the last log saved which is now on a USB stick. If you reopen your log in your regular directory the problem goes away. —Paul On Tue, Aug 10, 2021 at 8:14 PM Alan Zack <k7...@cox.net <mailto:k7...@cox.net> > wrote: Go to C:/dx4w906/save and look for kr9a.dxl or any file ending with the .dxl extension. This is your log. If not there go to your WIN search box (lower left corner of your display) and search for KR9A.DXL. If/when you find this file copy and paste to the above SAVE folder. Your .dxl log file may have somehow gotten saved in a different folder. Or is your call W9KO as in your email address?
I have had problems in the past opening DX4WIN due to a missing CTY file. I go to the dx4w906/backup folder, find the last country.dat file, and copy and paste it into the dx4w906/save folder. DX4WIN will now open with the old country file. Do an UPDATE to get the latest county file. I suggest going frequent back up of my .dxl file. Easy to do by going to FILE: SAVE AS. When the SAVE AS window opens right click on your .dxl file. A window will open. Select SEND TO and select a device to save the file (I use a thumb drive). Your .dxl file will be saved to what ever device you have chosen.
