I can't get the QSX frequency to display on the QSO notes or to
appear for a saved QSO record.
The transceiver is in split mode and the 'contest mode' submenu under
the QSO menu has 'contest mode' enabled with '$$' in the text 'to add
to the QSO note' window.

What kind of radio are you using? The ICOM protocol doesn't allow ANY
software to read split status from the radio.
