You also have to select the box that says hide grey spots. If you want
them gone completely set a filter on the cluster or use a cluster that
only passes US spots.

I enter the desired spotter prefix. I.e., "K"
In my case, I use ""K, XE, VE" to grab NA spots.

field under the Packet 1 tab for Prefixes/Zones for Spotters but when I
enter the zones 1 through 6 in every format I can think of, they don't
filter actually, all of the spots turn gray. What format should the zones
be in?

One way to limit spots coming from Europe is to type the command :
set/nodxdedx on your cluster. (To get it back, type set/dxdedx)
You will get only spots originating from Europe. But this is a cluster
command, not a DX4Win command.
