I just reinstalled DX4WIN version 4.07 on a new computer.
I can't get the CW to send. When I type in "X ENTER", the rig goes into
transmit. WHen I type on the keyboard the letters are echoed in the program,
but the rig just stays in transmit and dosen't actually send the cw characters.
The LPT interface works because I can send using the CT program just fine.
ANy ideas?
Thanks,

Subject: [Dx4win] Pre 1975 CW DXCC confirmations
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I am a relatively new to DX4WIN and am happy with most of the functions it
provides but I am quite frustrated with the lack of support for CW
confirmations prior to 1/1/1975. This is the official start date for CW DXCC.
CW confirmations prior to 1975 count for the DXCC Mixed and Challenge awards
but are not valid for CW DXCC.

Mainly due to some long duration lapses in my amateur radio activity I have a
few CW confirmations prior to 1975 for current countries that have not been
re-worked since then. Also I have a number of CW confirmations for deleted
countries worked prior to 1975 but have not been electronically recorded at the
League. In both cases these confirmations are valid for overall totals, the
mixed award, and the Challenge award but not valid for CW DXCC. Since DX4WIN
is not sensitive to the CW DXCC start date a number of DXCC reports are not
accurate including the Listing, Needed, Summary, and Submissions reports. The
only solution that the product seems to offer is a Selection filter which can
be set to 1/1/1975. But setting a selection filter in this manner generates
inaccurate reports also since all confirmations including Phone, Mixed, and
RTTY are erroneously filtered. The Selection filter is not sensitive as to
mode. Further, when generating a Submissions report some of the Subm flags are
set erroneously, i.e. the mode flags are set incorrectly and in some cases the
Mixed flag is not set correctly. I have not used the spotting functions yet
but I would guess that users are not alerted to spots for those countries which
DX4WIN incorrectly assumes are already confirmed but, in fact, were CW contacts
confirmed prior to 1975.

With all of the functionality and automation incorporated into DX4WIN is seems
a shame that a user cannot receive accurate DXCC reports and needs to cross
check a number of reports with some head scratching to understand his/her DXCC
status. In my opinion, it would be a worthwhile effort to incorporate the CW
DXCC start date into the product. If completed it might be a good idea to
allow the user to determine whether or not they would like this support by a
setting in the Preferences file.

Am I missing something here or are there others who would agree that DX4WIN
should more fully support CW DXCC?
