Hi All,
How does E-gold, evocash etc avoid the problems that Paypal has? I don't
mean the bad administration or lack of ethics with Paypal but rather the
problem Paypal has of holding funds which makes it subject to banking
legislation and it doesn't hold banking licenses etc?

PayPal customers complain because they constantly freeze accounts. E-Gold
will only freeze account if they suspect hacking in the E-Gold system,
itself.

PayPal uses fiat currency regulated by the government here in the US.
PayPal offers "banking services" that fall under the same laws.
PayPal interacts with other banks directly through credit cards and various
other ways of moving "money" to and fro.

E-Gold is a small company, (it may not even have any employees), and makes
money simply on the Transaction

I think they make money from storage fees (called agio in the Terms I
think) and transaction fees. The Terms say they do NOT make loans -- all
e-gold is backed 100% by metal all the time.

They make a large part on the storage fee I would say. The transfer fee is
low, but may also add up to a

Not good. Plugged in last years figures and came out losing $14 to $16
dollars depending on the outexchange amount.
