The Gold Economy's Conference in scenic downtown Atlanta, Georgia wrapped up this weekend after a two day session. Under-attended, but overflowing with excellent speakers and information, the conference, in my humble opinion, may just have been the best one I have attended yet! ( And I have been to several to date!) Friday night's activities included an intimate "meet-n-greet" cocktail party inside the stunning Grand Hyatt in Buckhead, Atlanta. The small size of the attendance allowed those of us who did make the occasion the chance to introduce ourselves: Issuers: Doug Jackson and Jim Ray of G&SR. Pamela Fayed and Ken Griffith of e-Bullion. Bryan Allerdice and G-Man (George) Matyjewizc from Standard Transactions. Mr. and Mrs. Sean Trainor from Crown Gold. Market Makers/Exchange Agents: Dave Mullier from Gold Mountain Jim Davidson from Cambist.Net and Gold Barter.com John Polzer from Electrumor Inc. Eric, Duane and Kev from Gaithmans. E-Zines Matt Chancey from The Gold Economy. Interested Merchants and Consumers: Patrick Cherkoff Terry Lassiter (For those I can't remember, I apologize!) Doug Jackson gave a quick address Friday night after the wonderful "Low Country" dinner and touched on several issues relating to e-Gold. Saturday's speakers included Doug Jackson on e-Gold V. 2.0, Matt Chancey on The Gold Economy, Ken Griffith on e-Bullion and Gold as a Transport currency, Jim Davidson on Ultra-Grams, George Matyjewiz on SRHL, and Eric Gaither on behalf of the e-Currency Trade Association. Several "hot topics" brought some great discussions and a few debates to light. Fraud, common routing protocols, automated payment systems, money laundering, The Patriot Act, open bailment policies, using Gold as a transport currency, and a few "bits and bytes" about the collaborative efforts of the e-Currency Trade Association (www.exchangeprovider.net ) rounded out the day which was finalized with a rump session, and a small listing of his "disdains" for everyone from journalists to the IRS, by Jim Ray. (Jim also showed us a cool feature which seems to currently be an e-gold original...making payments to fellow account holders via cell phone. VERY cool! Not to mention to buy beer!) The small group, though each having their own interests, seemed to gel before all was said and done. Good food, great debate, and lots of info on new and *upcoming* technology. For those of you who missed it...you MISSED it! A big "southern hats off" to Matt Chancey and Ken Griffith for their efforts in pulling this one off. Thanks also to Doug Jackson, Pam Fayed, Sean Trainor and G-man Matyjewicz for taking the time to represent the Issuers. (And to Doug for the equipment he brought with him!) Noticeably absent were Pecunix representatives who also sponsored the event. Anyone??? A great conference, beautiful city, and excellent way to introduce yourself to the Gold Economy players who are helping to shape this Economy into the future. My complaint?? Hmmm....I can't think of one! A toast to the Southern charm of Atlanta, the growth of the Gold Economy, and as always, our mutual success! With Great Respect.
