You are right that driver only dump HW ring if adapter resets. However, in case of *true* tx hang , driver should tx_timeout that will reset the adapter and if msglvl is set correctly it will dump HW ring. If you’re not seeing tx_timeout I believe it’s a false tx hang. Check with ‘ethtool –S eth
