ARIZONA, TUCSON 85721-0076. The University of Arizona. The Department of
Geography and Regional Development (GRD) invites applicants for the
position of Department Head with appointment at the rank of Full
Professor. The appointee is expected to join the faculty January 2003.
Applicants must have a Ph.D., an established, internationally
competitive research record, demonstrated administrative experience, and
an exciting vision for the department. Applicants with research
interests that complement those of the department are sought. GRD is
administratively located within the College of Social and Behavioral
Sciences. The University and the College encourage interdisciplinarity,
thus GRD has important and substantial research links to a wide range of
campus units - including the Office of Arid Lands Studies, the Bureau of
Applied Research in Anthropology, the College of Architecture, Planning
and Landscape Architecture, the Institute for the Study of Planet Earth,
and the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy as well as strong
connections with many academic units from Anthropology to Hydrology and
