Hi All: This is cross-posted from H-ASEH. It's US-focused, but perhaps someone could suggest a relevant ecofeminist (Rachel Carson?) who could be the topic of the lecture? Stefanie Rixecker ECOFEM Coordinator ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- GUEST LECTURER WANTED! Each year, the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, local corporate sponsors, The Cambria County Economic Task Force, and the Cambria County School-to-Work Program sponsors the "Pitt-Johnstown Great Americans Day Citizenship Forum." The event affords an opportunity to draw together various communities: academic, business, political, secondary education, secondary students, and college students, to spend a day discussing three key components to citizenship: civic virtue, selflessness, and volunteerism. Accordingly, in honor of Pennsylvania's recognition of "Great Americans Day" (formerly President's Day) we invite a scholar to provide an example of ANY past American whose "greatness" (a term I hate but what am I gonna do?) was exhibited by a life of selfless devotion to one's community--local, regional, or national--with a thirty minute presentation. The only "requirement" is that the speaker must demonstrate research experience and/or publication dealing with the subject of their proposed presentation. This year's event will be held in February 1999: the 12th, 19th, or 26th on the speaker's convenience. You can visit the "Great Americans Day Citizenship Forum" web-site at http://www.pitt.edu/~pnewman/ga98.html. The speaker will receive a modest honorarium and all travel expenses. Please send a c.v. and a 150-250 word abstract through e-mail or snail mail by Friday, December 11 to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Prof. Paul Douglas Newman University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Johnstown, PA 15904 814-269-2987 ************************************ Dr. Stefanie S.
