DIRECTOR, WOMEN'S STUDIES.  The Women's Studies Program at the University of
Kansas seeks an accomplished  scholar to serve as director at the associate
or full professor level, starting fall 1999.  The University of Kansas
Women's Studies program is one of the oldest in the United States.  It
offers a bachelor's  degree and will soon offer  a graduate concentration.
The program currently has more than 30 undergraduate majors and teaches
several hundred students per year in listed and cross-listed courses.  There
are seven faculty members in the program, all with joint appointments and a
large multi-disciplinary advisory board.  The university seeks candidates
with a strong record of teaching and publication in areas related to Women's
Studies; administrative experience is desirable.  The successful applicant
will have a .25 appointment in the relevant department and a .75 appointment
in Women's Studies during their term as director.  Salary is commensurate
with experience.  The process of reviewing applications will begin after
December 15 and will continue until the position if filled, contingent on
