Our mission is to bring environmental education to folks on the internet and through a number of projects off-line. One of the coolest things we are working on right now is a project called Earth Quest. It's in conjunction with a project in Washington called DC Link and Learn, which provides technical education to high school age inner city youth. Earth Quest will be the environmental education part of this project. It will create Virtual Reality programs for these kids to learn about different environments. For example, they could tour a rainforest or climb Mt. Everest all in the middle of Washington DC. Other projects include daily environmental news headlines, weekly actions you can take to help the environment, and archives of environmental mailing lists. We, also, host the Virtual Library - Environment page, an index of over 900 on-line environmental resources. One of the ways we are funding projects like this is through an affiliation with Barnes and Noble bookstore. We have set up our website to take users to Barnes andNoble's on-line bookstore. Each time someone goes from our site to theirs and buys a book, a software package, or a magazine subscription, we get a 5% commission which we'll use to fund projects like Earth Quest. B & N ships most of their titles in 24 hours so there is still plenty of time to buy holiday gifts this way. So, if you are interested, this is all you need to do. As long as you go through our site first though, you can buy any kind of book, software or magazine, not just environmental ones and we will still get credit.
