Yes, those two species are remarkably similar. We have them both here in
NE Oregon, but so far Deschampsia danthonioides has been in such small
quantities and limited areas compared to Ventenata that it is not an issue
with the remote sensing. We are only just beginning the remote sensing
project
We are working on methods to map Ventenata dubia using remote sensing in
the Blue Mts. of NE Oregon. While gathering info about the distribution of
this annual grass, I came across a map on the USU Webmanual for Grasses
which shows that collections have been made throughout N US and S Canada.
