Southern Arkansas University’s College of Science and Engineering is accepting 
applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position for Assistant Professor of 
Biology with emphasis in Wildlife and Conservation Biology, effective August 
2019.

Duties: Teach an average of 12 hours per semester in upper and lower division 
biology courses (wildlife ecology, natural resources policy and administration 
and other wildlife-related courses as well as freshman biology courses) and 
associated laboratories; teach upper-level electives in the applicant’s area of 
expertise as well as other core biology courses; supervise undergraduate 
research projects; serve on committees; perform scholarly activity; engage in 
recruitment, retention, advise students and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Doctorate degree in Biology or related field required by time 
of employment; have expertise in wildlife biology; demonstrate an ability to 
teach undergraduate students; excellent communication skills; ability to work 
well with people; have a strong desire to interact with students both in the 
classroom and undergraduate research projects. All SAU faculty and staff

Biology with emphasis in aquatic ecology (freshwater or marine), effective 
August 2019. The candidate will lead and grow the biology department’s new 
degree in marine biology and develop a research program involving undergraduate 
students.

Duties: Teach an average of 12 hours per semester in upper and lower division 
biology courses (marine biology, ecology, oceanography, introductory biology 
and upper division elective courses and labs) and associated laboratories; 
teach upper-level electives in the applicant’s area of expertise as well as 
other core biology courses; supervise undergraduate research projects; serve on 
committees; perform scholarly activity; engage in recruitment, retention, 
advise students and other duties as assigned.
