BOTANY/POLLINATION ECOLOGY RESEARCH ASSISTANT NEEDED Application deadline extended to Feb 23.
Research assistant needed to monitor a pollinator restoration project in Yolo County, CA. Over the past year Dr. Claire Kremen of the University of California, Berkeley, The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, and California Audubon have implemented a pollinator restoration program in California. This summer we will field test the research-based restoration protocols specifically designed to restore floral and nesting resources needed by native bees on farms in Yolo County. Due to the collaborative nature of this project, this position is an ideal opportunity for a highly motivated individual who is interested in applied research, botany and/or pollination ecology. Required knowledge and skills include: previous field or lab experience or coursework related to botany, an expertise in the flora of California highly desirable, interest in botany, entomology, conservation biology, and/or field ecology, attention to detail, highly motivated and able to work independently, valid drivers license, and ability to work in the field under hot sunny conditions for long hours. The research assistant will be paid by UC Berkeley and receive an hourly wage of $13.17. This temporary full time position will begin in April and end in late August.
