Hello! Our lab has started a new collaboration that requires me to extract DNA from dust that has been sieved and collected from household vacuum cleaners. I have been using the MoBio PowerSoil DNA Isolation kit for soil extractions with success and am hoping to use this kit for the dust extractions. Does anyone have experience extracting dust with this type of kit that could offer advice on modifying the protocol for this use?
Most importantly, I need suggestions on how to add the sample to the bead tubes as well as what quantity to use. I have also read a few publications that have eluted the product into various solutions for downstream applications. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated!
