Field technicians needed to assist a University of South Dakota PhD student in a study of small mammal populations in prairie ecosystems. The study sites are located in southeastern South Dakota. Successful candidates will be willing and able to withstand adverse weather conditions, early mornings, and biting insects. Duties include erecting trapping grids, live capture of small mammals, tagging, taking morphologic measurements, vegetation sampling, and collection of owl pellets. This is a great opportunity for an interested individual to learn about small mammal ecology, wildlife management, and gain research experience. Pay will be approximately $1,200 per month and housing will be provided. Start date is approximately June 1st and employment will continue until the end of August or September (depending on successful applicantÂ’s availability). If interested, please send a resume, cover letter, and list of references to Rachel DeMots at [EMAIL PROTECTED] ASAP.
