I'm seeking textbook recommendations for an undergraduate, infectious-disease
ecology course.

1. What textbook or other materials do you use and would you recommend,
especially
for undergraduates? Previous informal surveys mentioned these:

Collinge, S. K., & Ray, C. (2006). Disease ecology: community structure and
pathogen
dynamics. Oxford University Press.

Ostfeld, R. S., Keesing, F., & Eviner, V. T. (2008). Infectious disease
ecology: effects of
ecosystems on disease and of disease on ecosystems. Princeton University Press.

Smolinski, M. S., Hamburg, M. A., & Lederberg, J. (2003). Microbial threats to
health:
emergence, detection, and response. National Academies Press.

2. However, some instructors solely use peer-reviewed articles. Are there
specific
articles you’d recommend for undergraduates?

3. Finally, do you have any additional resources, websites, activities, etc.
you'd
recommend?

As background, I have been developing a course over the past two years catering
to
undergraduates broadly, not just pre-health students. It has few
pre-requisites. Course
components include presenting/discussing articles, lectures, simple R
exercises, and
in-class worksheets. I'm interested in incorporating a half-semester project.

Anecdotally, our course in infectious disease ecology has grown in popularity,
and I'm
wondering if other campuses have had this as well.

Thanks so much for any input or suggestions you might have!
