Dear All, We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to our session for the 2018 AGU Fall meeting. Please see below for additional information.
Session Title: B023: Estimating critical biogeochemical processes across soil-plant-atmosphere continuum using cutting-edge techniques https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm18/prelim.cgi/Session/53076 Session Description: Land-based biogeochemical processes involve the fluxes of elements through the atmosphere, plants, and soils. Synergistic advances in empirical studies, modeling, data assimilation, and new capabilities (machine learning and data science) are needed to increase the mechanistic understanding and improve the representation of terrestrial biogeochemistry in earth system models1. To that end, recent technological advances enabled scientists to evaluate the environmental controls on soil and ecosystem metabolism as well as aboveground-belowground linkages under current and future climatic conditions. We invite contributions that investigate biogeochemical cycling of carbon, nutrients, & water and their complex interactions across different ecosystem types and biomes by leveraging cross-disciplinary expertise including novel measurement technologies, simulation models, and other computational algorithms. Studies that have generated new ecological theories, advanced data-driven knowledge discoveries, and developed mechanistic algorithms are especially encouraged for submission. 1 https://science.energy.gov/~/media/ber/berac/pdf/Reports/BERAC-2017-Grand-Challenges-Report.pdf Note that abstracts are due on August 1, 2018.
