Dear Ecologers, We are convening an AGU session on aerial and ground-based remote sensing at this fall's meeting in San Francisco. If you are conducting UAV-based remote sensing work or experimenting with new imaging methods and applications from the ground, please consider submitting an abstract. As both of these fields have really captured the scientific and public interest as of late, we think this should be an exciting session. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at one of the emails below.

Low- and No-Altitude Remote Sensing: Innovative Systems and Applications Section/Focus Group: Biogeosciences (B) Conveners: Michael Toomey, Harvard University mtoo...@fas.harvard.edu Joshua Gray, Boston University joshg...@bu.edu Thomas Hilker, Oregon State University thomas.hil...@oregonstate.edu Description: Remote sensing is a powerful scientific tool, providing observations of the Earth System at fine spatial and temporal resolution. In recent years, we have witnessed a proliferation of low-altitude and ground-based remote sensing techniques which augment and aid in scaling traditional spaceborne and airborne observations. The convergence of rapidly evolving aerial technologies and imaging systems will push this horizon considerably further. This session aims to highlight novel remote sensing systems and applications for environmental monitoring. We invite contributions from researchers utilizing both active and passive remote sensing technologies on unmanned aerial vehicles as well as tower- and ground-based platforms.
