I’d like to invite anyone who will be in the Portland area for Earth Day to come to a free screening of my film “Glacial Balance” (glacialbalance.com) at Portland State University. The screening will be on Tuesday, April 22 at 5pm.

For those who aren’t able to attend, DVDs are on sale for 30% off through Earth Day (for academic and personal licenses).

The film is a country-by-country journey along the spine of the Andes, telling stories of the relationships Andeans have with their nearby glaciers, and the effects of the glaciers’ disappearance on their lives. It addresses Latin American geography with regards to the effects of climate change that are being faced today, dealing with aspects of Andeans' reality as they work to mitigate the effects of climate change. Being a filmmaker, and not a scientist, my goal when approaching the subject was to communicate difficult scientific concepts in understandable language. However, I wanted to do this without relying on a narrator, but allow the locals and the scientists to narrate the story through edits of long-form interviews.

Please write me at et...@glacialbalance.com with any questions.

Thanks,
Ethan Steinman
