An M.S. / Ph.D. Research Assistantship is available in the Reynolds Coastal and
Marine Ecology Lab at the University of Florida. Students have the option of
being enrolled via the Soil and Water Sciences Department
(http://soils.ifas.ufl.edu/academics/graduate-studies/) or the School of
Natural Resources and the Environment
(http://snre.ufl.edu/graduate/default.htm).

Research in my lab integrates approaches from population and community ecology,
biogeochemistry, population genetics, and plant physiology to better understand
how environmental and individual variability influences the functions and
stability of nearshore marine ecosystems (seagrass meadows, mangroves, salt
marshes). Students will have the opportunity to develop independent research
projects of broad scientific interest that should also inform and improve
conservation and restoration practices. These projects can be part of ongoing
work in my lab (see http://www.lkreynolds.com) or be developed as separate
topics in systems of mutual interest.

Strong candidates will be good writers with a background in biology and
ecology. Students should be inquisitive, motivated, and detail oriented. Lab
members are expected to be team players and help me and each other on projects.

The lab is located on the main campus in Gainesville, FL, but there are
opportunities to work at a variety of field sites and labs including the Nature
Coast Biological Station (https://ncbs.ifas.ufl.edu/) and the Whitney Lab
(http://www.whitney.ufl.edu/).

Interested candidates should contact Dr. Laura Reynolds
(lkreyo...@ufl.edu<mailto:lkreyo...@ufl.edu>) for additional information.
