IUFRO A Global Perspective on the Ecology and Management of Bark and Wood Boring Insects BARILOCHE | PATAGONIA | ARGENTINA 1-4 September 2015 Research on the ecology and pest management of bark and wood boring insects is constantly moving forward. This is partly due to an array of non-native species, arriving into new areas and increasingly affecting native and plantation forests worldwide. Several species are thus shared by more than one country and region attracting cross-border research. Focused on these shared concerns, IUFRO Sections *7.03.05 "Ecology and Management of Bark and Wood Boring Insects" and Section 7.03.12 "**Alien Invasive Species and International Trade"* will meet in Bariloche, Argentina in September 1-4, 2015. This joint meeting will be organized by GEPI (Grupo de Ecologia de Poblaciones de Insectos - INTA EEA Bariloche). This research group has been studying the population ecology and behavior of the woodwasp Sirex noctilio and its natural enemies for the past 10 years. Bariloche is a small city located in Patagonia, by the Nahuel Huapi lake, at the foot of the Andes.The city is situated within the Nahuel Huapi National Park, and lies on an impressive landscape that varies in a range of a few kilometers from steppe to rain-forest in an East-West direction, surrounded by the stunning beauty of mountains and lakes. We plan an exciting venue, expecting the highest academic standards. The meeting will include a field trip to visit several areas of native and planted forests in Patagonia. We are expecting a rather large number of attendees for the meeting and have limited space.
