I am sad to report that Jody Connor, long-time director of limnology with
the New Hampshire Dept. of Environmental Services, died June 9 at Concord
(NH) Hospital. He was 58.

Jody was a tireless leader in and advocate for protecting not only NH's
lakes but water quality around the globe. He played a key roll in issues
ranging from shoreland runoff and invasive weeds to fish habitat and loon
nest protection.

He was an active member of several professional including the North American
Lake Management Society. He initiated the U.S.-Israel Sister Lakes
Partnership which helped Israelis set up volunteer assessment programs using
NH's successful Volunteer Lake Assessment Programs (VLAP) as models for
similar programs launched in Israel in 2002.
In 2009, he was awarded the Gulf of Maine Visionary Award in recognition of
"innovation, creativity, and commitment to marine protection to the health
of the Gulf of Maine."

Published obituary is posted online at www.concordmonitor.com/obituaries.
