Summary
Northland College is currently conducting a tenure-track search for a
faculty position in Biology that will begin in August 2012. Located in
Ashland, Wisconsin, on the shore of Lake Superior, Northland College
has pursued an environmental liberal arts mission since 1971, and
recently revised its general education curriculum to emphasize
integrated learning across disciplines.

Responsibilities
This is primarily a teaching position and the successful candidate
will be developing a new Forestry emphasis within the Natural
Resources major. The teaching load will be six courses per year
including Ecology, Forest Mensuration, Silviculture and Harvest, Fire
Ecology and Management, Sustainable Forestry, and a course for the
College's unique general education Connections program. Other possible
courses to be taught are Tree Physiology and Forest Ecosystems. The
opportunity also exists to develop courses in an area of expertise
consistent with the mission and needs of the College.

Qualifications
By the time of appointment, candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Forestry
or a related field. The successful applicant must demonstrate a
commitment to the liberal arts that includes interdisciplinary
teaching, service to the college and the larger community, and
scholarly work that provides opportunities for student research.
