Assistant Professor of Microbiology Samford University's Department of 
Biological and Environmental Sciences invites applications for a full-time (9 
month), non-tenure track assistant professor of biology appointment with a 
focus in molecular microbiology, beginning in fall 2015.
Qualifications: Ph.D. required. Successful candidate will have demonstrated 
record of scholarship and excellence in teaching microbiology or related area. 
Research interests in molecular microbiology involving the collection and 
analysis of genomic and metagenomic data are preferred.
Evidence of research, scholarly interests and activities also strengthen 
applications for this position.

Candidates must be willing to support the university's Christian mission.
Duties: Teach and develop courses at the introductory level courses 
(microbiology and principles of biology) and coordinate all microbiology labs. 
Faculty in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences are expected 
to mentor undergraduate research (including Howard Clark Scholars in 
Computational Biology) and advise majors.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences: The department has 12 
full-time faculty and approximately 135 majors. Departmental majors include 
biology, environmental science, and marine science. Minors include biology, 
bioinformatics and marine science.

The candidate will teach biology majors and pre-pharmacy, exercise science, 
nursing and nutrition students.

The Clark Scholars Program in Computational Biology: The Clark Scholars Program 
at Samford University trains students to do research at the nexus of biology

interdisciplinary classes with research experiences and personal mentoring,
