Bull Run Mountains Conservancy: Resident Naturalist & Building Caretaker 
Position

Bull Run Mountains Conservancy is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization founded 
in 1994 to protect the Bull Run Mountains through education, research, and 
stewardship. The Conservancy is located in Broad Run, Virginia, about 3 miles 
west of the town of Haymarket and about 25 miles from Washington, D.C. We are 
currently seeking a part-time Resident Naturalist and Building Caretaker.

This position entails a combination of environmental education programming and 
development, scientific field studies, and administrative work. Applicants must 
have a good grasp of natural history and biological concepts, and a willingness 
to constantly develop as a professional naturalist. Communication skills are 
extremely important. Experience in education and field studies desired. 
Computer experience in database programs, publisher programs, and spreadsheets 
is needed. Knowledge and experience working with GIS programming preferred.

Housing is provided in the Mountain House Headquarters located at 17405 
Beverley Mill Drive, Broad Run, Virginia 20137 at the foot of the Bull Run 
Mountains. The position requires a responsible person to occupy the caretaking 
apartment and to perform a security presence on BRMC's Mountain House property. 
This includes managing the building's fire and burglary alarm system, as well 
as visual and actual security of the building after hours. Maintaining an 
orderly and clean resident apartment and a professional standard for the BRMC 
headquarters constitutes the Caretaker's responsibilities.

The position requires 15 hours conducting the above tasks per week, including 
weekend hours. Utilities are not included. The one-bedroom residence has a 
bottom and top floor and has its own entrance. BRMC has washer/dryer that can 
be used providing the utility room is kept clear when not in use. There is a 
small space outside for gardening.

This is an ideal position for a mature college student, graduate student, or 
active retired person. The proximity to the Bull Run Mountains Natural Area 
Preserve is a welcome amenity for a person working in the environmental
