SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE FACULTY

Sterling College, a small experiential liberal arts college focusing
on ecology and community, invites applications for a full-time
Sustainable Agriculture faculty position in Craftsbury Common,
Vermont. We welcome applications from inspired educators with strong
academic and applied skills who wish to provide leadership and vision
for our Sustainable Agriculture program. Responsibilities for this
position will begin in July 2009. Preference will be given to
candidates with a strong background in Agroecology or a related field.
Teaching responsibilities will consist of courses in content areas
such as plant and soil science, agricultural techniques, permaculture,
and organic crop production. Additional responsibilities will include
working closely with students on independent studies and senior
applied research projects, delivering upper-level seminar courses,
fulfilling work program obligations, serving on committees, attending
faculty and instructional team meetings, and advising students.

Candidates should effectively bridge classroom and field-based
learning and be familiar with agricultural policy and the development
of community food networks. The ideal candidate is an innovative and
passionate undergraduate educator with substantial hands-on research
experience in his or her field of study who can teach in a flexible
interdisciplinary environment and has the ability and interest to
support an integrative college curriculum. Preference will be given to
applicants with a Ph.D. at the time of appointment. For more
