POSITION One seasonal Technician position is available to work in the lab of Dr. Winsor Lowe at the University of Montana. Fieldwork will be conducted at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest in central New Hampshire. DURATION and HOUSING The position will last approximately three months, starting mid-June and ending in early/mid-September. Housing will be provided at Hubbard Brook in New Hampshire. Round-trip transportation to New Hampshire along with travel to local field sites is provided.
JOB DESCRIPTION The technician’s primary duties will involve surveys of stream salamanders and brook trout in headwater streams of central New Hampshire. The technician will also assist in setting up and maintenance of artificial stream experiments at the field site. Work will be in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and technicians should expect to hike to field sites in rough terrain, get wet from working in headwater streams, handle salamanders, use a handheld GPS unit, and experience East Coast humidity and heat. The technician will be a part of a three-person field crew, thus the successful applicant should work well with others. Prior fieldwork experience is preferred, but not required.
