An MS assistantship is available starting Fall 2014 to study native bee communities of eastern longleaf pine savannas and eastern hillside seepage bogs, Tier 1 conservation priority habitats of the East Gulf Coastal Plain. This is a funded project and the successful applicant will be supported on a competitive two year assistantship with tuition waiver. The ideal candidate will be independent, highly motivated, and have interests in conservation biology and ecology. Southeastern Louisiana University is located in Hammond, LA, less than an hour from both New Orleans and Baton Rouge, and in a region with diverse, unique terrestrial and wetland habitats and an abundance of eclectic cultural activities. A terminal MS degree is the best choice for many career paths and is also a perfect strategy for students unsure of whether they want to pursue a PhD or their specific research area of interest. Interested students should submit a statement of interest that includes their GRE scores, a current CV with contact information for three references, and unofficial transcripts directly to Dr. Janice Bossart (jboss...@selu.edu) via email attachment. Specifics of the graduate program in Biological Sciences at Southeastern are at: http://www.southeastern.edu/acad_research/depts/biol/grad_degree/index.html. Applications will be accepted until March 21.
